Pigment, met at the speed of light.

The PicoToning Laser Facial delivers ultra-short picosecond pulses that target pigmentation, even skin tone, refine texture, and stimulate collagen — all without the downtime of traditional resurfacing. Safe across all skin tones.

The Technology

Trillionths of a second make the difference.

Picosecond lasers deliver energy in trillionths of a second — dramatically faster than older nanosecond technology. That ultra-short pulse shatters pigment into smaller particles while transferring minimal heat to surrounding skin. The clinical payoff: safer results across all skin types and a reduced risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation.

It's the treatment we reach for when pigment is the main story: sun damage and age spots, melasma, post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, uneven tone and dullness, fine lines, enlarged pores and rough texture, and overall skin quality and radiance.

Treatment overview

  • Treatment time: about 30 minutes
  • Sensation: light, warm flicking — no numbing needed
  • Downtime: none — mild flushing settles within 1–2 hours
  • Heads up: spots may darken for 1–2 weeks as pigment clears — that’s the process working
  • Results: build for 4–6 weeks after each session

One session shows visible results; three sessions spaced four weeks apart deliver the optimal outcome, with maintenance every two to three months to sustain it.

What To Expect

A half hour in, radiance out.

Sessions run about 30 minutes. Most clients describe the sensation as a light, warm flicking — no numbing required. You'll notice immediate brightening and smoothness; any mild flushing resolves within one to two hours, and there's no peeling, scabbing, or activity restriction afterward.

  • Pigment behaves predictably: treated spots may darken slightly over one to two weeks as your body clears the pigment — that's the process working, not a setback.
  • Results keep building: texture improvement and collagen remodeling continue for four to six weeks after each session.
  • Before your visit: avoid direct sun and self-tanner for two weeks, and pause retinoids and exfoliating acids three to five days prior.
  • Afterward: SPF daily — essential. Resume normal skincare after 24–48 hours, hold active ingredients until skin normalizes, and let pigment shed naturally without picking.

Frequently asked questions.

What makes picosecond technology better for pigment?
Speed. Delivering energy in trillionths of a second breaks pigment into much smaller particles with minimal heat transfer to surrounding tissue. That means safer treatment across all skin types and a lower risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation than slower, hotter lasers.
Can it treat melasma?
Melasma is one of the core conditions PicoToning addresses, alongside sun damage, age spots, and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. Melasma is a chronic condition that needs a careful plan — book a complimentary consultation and we'll confirm the right approach for your skin.
Why did my dark spots get darker after treatment?
That's expected. Pigmented areas often darken slightly over one to two weeks as the body clears the shattered pigment — then they fade. Let the pigment shed naturally without picking, and keep up daily SPF.
How many sessions do I need?
A single session ($275) shows visible results, but the optimal outcome comes from three sessions spaced four weeks apart — $675 as a series. Maintenance every two to three months sustains the results.
Is it safe for darker skin tones?
Yes — safety across all skin tones is one of picosecond technology's defining advantages, because so little heat reaches the surrounding skin. Candidacy exceptions apply to everyone: pregnancy or breastfeeding, active skin infections, Accutane within six months, recent tanning, or certain photosensitizing conditions.
PicoToning or the Signature Laser Facial?
If pigment, melasma, or uneven tone is your primary concern, PicoToning is usually the answer. If you're also managing redness and vascular concerns, the Signature Laser Facial ($175) casts a wider net. A complimentary consultation settles it in minutes.
